1. Purpose
This policy outlines the insurance and vehicle requirements for individuals delivering goods using the Gamu Driver App in Canada. It helps ensure safety, compliance with provincial regulations, and trust between drivers, merchants, and customers.
2. Legal Status of Drivers
Drivers using the Gamu platform are independent contractors, not employees.
As such, each driver is responsible for maintaining proper vehicle insurance and road safety compliance under provincial and federal laws.
3. Insurance Requirements
All drivers must maintain valid and active personal auto insurance that meets or exceeds the minimum requirements of their province or territory.
Minimum required:
- Personal auto insurance with delivery or ride-for-hire coverage if required by province.
- Insurance policy must be in your name and active during the time of delivery.
- Proof of insurance must be submitted during onboarding and kept up to date.
❗ Gamu does not provide commercial or accident insurance to drivers. You are fully responsible for your own insurance protection.
4. Province-Specific Notes

5. Vehicle Standards
Drivers must use vehicles that meet the following criteria:
- Valid provincial vehicle registration and license plate.
- Street-legal condition with functioning headlights, brakes, tires, and signals.
- No visible damage that could impair safety or delivery experience.
- No branding or unauthorized signage unrelated to Gamu deliveries.
6. Documentation Required
During driver onboarding via the Gamu Driver App, you must upload:
- A clear photo of your vehicle (including license plate).
- Valid proof of insurance.
- Vehicle registration details.
All documents must remain valid. If they expire or change, you must update them in the app immediately.
7. Ongoing Responsibilities
- Ensure your vehicle remains safe, insured, and legally operable at all times.
- Immediately report any incidents that could impact your ability to safely deliver.
- Inform Gamu if your insurance coverage lapses or changes.
8. No Gamu Liability for Accidents
Gamu Technologies Inc. does not provide:
- Auto or liability insurance for drivers;
- Compensation for damage to your vehicle;
- Coverage for third-party property or injury claims.
You are solely responsible for accident-related costs, regardless of fault.
9. Policy Violations
Your driver account may be suspended or terminated if:
- You provide false or expired insurance/vehicle documentation.
- You operate without valid insurance or registration.
- Your vehicle poses a safety risk or violates Gamu’s standards.
