Effective Date: July 17, 2025
Applies to: All merchants using the Gamu Business App in Canada
This policy is part of the overall Gamu Merchant Terms & Conditions and outlines how service fees and payouts work for merchants using the Gamu Business App in Canada.
1. Overview
This document explains how platform service fees and payouts work between merchants and Gamu Technologies Inc. (“Gamu”, “we”, “our”, or “us”).
By using the Gamu Business App, you (the “Merchant”) agree to this policy as part of the Merchant Terms & Conditions.
2. Platform Service Fee
Gamu charges a platform fee on each completed order. This fee covers the use of the Gamu ecosystem, including:
- App hosting and management
- Customer acquisition and promotions
- Payment processing and fraud prevention
- Customer support
- Access to Gamu-registered delivery drivers
2.1 Fee Percentage
- Platform fees are typically between 5% to 30% depending on the category and service (e.g., food, gifts).
- You will see the exact fee rate applied to each order in your merchant dashboard.
Note: Gamu reserves the right to adjust fee rates with notice.
3. Payout Schedule
- Payouts are issued weekly, every Monday at 4:00 AM (PT).
- Funds are transferred to the bank account you connected via Stripe Express during onboarding.
3.1 Processing Time
- After Gamu triggers the payout on Monday, actual arrival in your bank may take 1–3 business days, depending on your bank’s processing time.
4. Stripe Integration
Gamu uses Stripe Connect Express to securely manage:
- Customer payments
- Your business identity verification
- Bank account linking
- Payment processing
- Tax documentation (if applicable)
You must keep your Stripe account active and up to date to receive payouts.
5. Payout Calculations
Each weekly payout includes:
Component | Description |
---|---|
Gross Sales | Total value of completed orders (before fees and tax) |
− Gamu Platform Fees | Percentage-based service charge |
− Refunds (if any) | Amounts refunded to customers |
− Stripe Processing Fees | Standard card transaction fee (set by Stripe) |
= Net Payout | What is sent to your bank account |
6. Taxes in Payout
Gamu handles tax collection based on your tax registration status and Gamu’s registration status:
Scenario | Tax Handling |
---|---|
You are tax-registered | You provide tax ID → Gamu collects tax → Gamu includes tax in your payout → You remit tax to CRA/province |
You are not tax-registered & Gamu is not | No tax collected |
You are not tax-registered & Gamu is | Gamu collects tax and remits directly to CRA/province (not included in your payout) |
7. Deductions & Penalties
In certain cases, deductions may be applied before payout:
- Order cancellation after acceptance
- Fraudulent activity or policy violations
- Chargebacks
- Negative customer experiences or poor fulfillment patterns
You will be notified if any such deductions apply.
8. Account Holds or Delays
Gamu may temporarily hold payouts if:
- Your business identity or Stripe account is not verified
- We detect suspicious activity
- A government inquiry or legal matter is involved
We will work with you to resolve issues as quickly as possible.
9. Updating Bank Details
If you need to change your bank account, you must do so through Stripe Express using your onboarding dashboard.
Payouts may be paused temporarily during this change.
10. Policy Changes
This policy may be updated occasionally. We’ll notify you through the Gamu Business App or your email.
