Gamu Technologies Inc. (“Gamu Canada“, “we”, “our”, or “us”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your personal information when you use our apps and services in Canada.

  • Gamu Customer App
  • Gamu Business App
  • Gamu Driver App
  • Any other platform operated under Gamu Canada

1. What Personal Information We Collect

We collect the following types of personal data depending on your role:

A. All Users

  • Full name
  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • Location (for delivery & app optimization)
  • IP address and device data
  • In-app activity and preferences

B. Customers

  • Order history
  • Delivery addresses
  • Payment method (processed securely via Stripe – we do not store card numbers)
  • In-app chat messages (for support or order coordination)

C. Business Owners

  • Business name & contact details
  • Store address & category
  • Social media links (optional)
  • Stripe account information (via Stripe Connect)
  • Weekly sales and payout details

D. Drivers

  • Driver name and photo (including live selfie)
  • Contact details
  • Vehicle type and insurance information
  • Stripe account for payouts
  • Delivery location tracking during active trips

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide and operate the Gamu Canada platform
  • Process orders, payments, and payouts
  • Facilitate communication between users, merchants, and drivers
  • Detect fraud and protect platform integrity
  • Improve app experience and support
  • Comply with Canadian law and provincial regulations

3. Do We Share Your Information?

We do not sell your personal information.

We may share your information with:

  • Stripe, to process payments and handle payouts
  • Merchants, for fulfilling your orders
  • Drivers, for delivering your orders
  • Service providers (e.g., cloud hosting, analytics, fraud prevention) under confidentiality agreements
  • Canadian legal authorities, only if required by law (e.g., tax reporting, court orders)

4. Where Your Data Is Stored

Your information may be stored in secure cloud servers located in Canada or the United States, depending on our hosting provider (e.g., AWS, Digitalocean, Firebase).

All data is protected with industry-standard encryption both in transit and at rest.

5. Your Rights (Under PIPEDA)

As a Canadian user, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Request corrections or updates to your data
  • Withdraw consent for data use (may limit access to services)
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data (subject to legal retention requirements)

6. Cookies and Tracking

We use minimal cookies and mobile tracking to:

  • Keep you signed in
  • Track order status
  • Improve app performance

You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but this may limit certain features.

7. Province-Specific Notes

British Columbia (BC)

Gamu Canada is incorporated in BC and complies with the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) for all BC-based data subjects.

Quebec

For users in Quebec, we comply with Law 25 (formerly Bill 64), including enhanced consent for data collection and stricter reporting of security breaches.

8. Retention of Data

We keep user information only as long as needed to:

  • Provide services
  • Meet legal and tax obligations (e.g., 7-year financial record retention)
  • Resolve disputes or prevent abuse

Inactive accounts may be deleted after 2 years.

9. Data Security

We take security seriously:

  • Encrypted payment and user data
  • Limited internal access to sensitive info
  • Two-factor authentication (2FA) on admin systems

Still, no system is 100% secure. If a data breach occurs, affected users will be notified as required by law.

10. Children’s Privacy

Gamu Canada is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If you believe a child has used Gamu Canada, please contact us.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. You will be notified in the app or by email. The “Last Updated” date at the top of this page reflects the latest version.
